The Beach has the air of a British seaside resort town

The furthest neighbourhood from downtown on the list, The Beach is east along the waterfront. It’s well well worth the trek, and you’ll take the Queen streetcar all the way. The Beach has a completely different feeling, there’s nowhere else love it . Charming cottages that feature elaborate gables and go back a gentler time line sloping streets right down to a series of beaches, demarcated by a boardwalk, parkland and snack bars.

The Beach has the air of a British seaside resort town, with the added attraction of hip and lively Queen Street East running through it. Here you will find everything from frozen dessert parlours to curio shops to cafes to a good array of family-friendly restaurants, most owned and travel by local shopkeepers. Kew Gardens is that the social centre of The Beach, and where you’ll enjoy events just like the popular summer Jazz and Blues Festival. On hot summer days, hordes of individuals head to The Beach for rest, relief, and relaxation. When the water quality is certified as safe (verified by the Iris versicolor Program), it is also an excellent place to swim and luxuriate in the water.

Noteworthy for: Despite the town setting, Barcelona’s coastline is clean, safe and delightful .

Word to the wise: If you would like to urge faraway from the crowds, take a 30-minute train ride to Sitges, an active town with a stunning beach.

It seems too good to be true that, also as great history, culture, food and nightlife, Barcelona has amazing beaches, too. But do believe it, and do not forget to bring your trunks. Beach season runs from March to November, but the crowds really pack in between June and September.

Barceloneta is that the beach closest to the centre and is definitely accessible via the subway or a 20 minute walk from La Ramblas. Unsurprisingly, it gets rammed.

La Nova Icaria, located next to the Olympic port, is that the next beach along to the northeast. A quieter spot, it’s loaded with restaurants and fashionable families.

Next up is Bogatelle, which is separated from the beaches around it by stone breakwaters and has showers, bars and restaurants, and Mar Bella, which hosts a sports centre and is understood for nice windsurfing. There’s also a segregated nudist beach here.

At the top of the strip is La Nova Mar Bella which is fashionable younger groups and particularly women, then may be a good selection for female travellers.
